The Celebrations Continue!

It certainly has been the year of milestone celebrations at APD.

We kicked things off back in March with APD’s Silver Anniversary, after 35 successful years in business. Then in summer five employees were recognised for their length of service and presented with awards to mark 20 & 30 years at APD.

So it seems fitting to round off the year by mentioning all the big birthday’s that have also been celebrated over the last few months. Especially as it can’t be very often one business can simultaneously celebrate a 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th in the same year!

The spring chicken of the group; Martin C turned 40 back in August, spending the weekend with his wonderful wife Lynn in their home-from-home, Aberdeen! Next up was the lovely Janie, who in September spent her 60th birthday with a trip to the garden centre to spend her birthday money on a new garden swing seat. At the start of November it was PQ’s turn, and he marked turning 50 in the only way he saw fit…by doing absolutely nothing!

And finally, it was the turn of the boss man himself – Elliot. Elliot celebrated turning 70 in true Elliot style; partying in a bothy in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by his nearest and dearest who were all dressed in the parachute regiment berets in a nod to Elliot's time in the army. There was incredible food, catered by The Crown & Thistle at Rockcliffe, entertainment from singer Kerry Weir and keyboard player Robert Park, and the celebrations continued into the wee hours. Not your typical night in a bothy!

The birthday's were paired with some spectacular themed cakes, made by the very talented Lynn Candlish (who also happens to be Martin’s better half). Each cake was beautifully made and hand decorated with a personal touch for the recipient. You can see more of Lynn’s incredible creations on her business Facebook page: Candlicious Cakes.

Thanks to everyone involved with marking and celebrating this year of special occasions!
